Model attempt 2

Importing into sketchup and cutting sections
Importing into corel draw to laser cut

Now that I have a sectional model, I will now use it to 1) assist me in creating internal spaces and 2) form the building envelope. Furthermore, I will explore how the spaces can be connected. The experiments stated will be conducted using string, kind of like a physical blender experiment.

Physical Model - photos

Some problems I came across with the construction of the model:
  • Floating structures that will need more columns
  • Thickness with outdoor shelter
In order to refine these spaces, I need to create a more refined building envelope, not just blobby things in blender.

Physical Model - Sections

From my blender model shown below I took it into sketch up pro by exporting it to an OBJ file

After importing into sketchup, I took sections and saved them as dwg files and imported into corel draw for laser cutting.

Week 10 Tutorial

First tutorial for project 3!
Today we discussed outcomes for the final project - the main weight of the subject (60%). Good thing that Florian told us we were more ahead than last year!

The Process of this unit:
Concept (Folie design) --> Digital experimentation (Blender Experimentation) --> Physical Model --> Back to concept --> More experiments... --> Final Design --> Documentation and presentation

We each created a timeline as to what we are going to do every week.

Starting Project 3

Some little things I looked at; how I was going to turn a concept into a building envelope and further into design.

Post Presentation

Following on from the Week 9 presentation, I was to explore even more experiments for project 3. For the next week, I will think about refining these spaces; how I can transform my CONCEPT into DESIGN.

Some of the things I could explore were:
  • How my design was going to merge into the cliff face
  • Exploring the movement of people (eg population numbers)
  • Where people are drawn to in context
  • Transition spaces - light spaces
