Week 4 - Folie Design

Design Concept - The main design concept used in this folie design is developed from the Architecture and the City Walkshop. The walk dictates a journey from landmarks, to the boundary and finishing at an edge, where the structure of the city flows from a planned grid design to a more free flowing form. Major landmarks are present throughout the CBD. Travelling towards the Fortitude Valley, it is evident that it acts as a  boundary, where the city changes into a quieter and less busy area. This area then transforms into an edge, where the land meets the river. This place is the Howard Smith Warves. The folie design is greatly developed  through this idea and it acts as a symbolic representation of the journey. As one enters the folie, the three  major aspects are easily recognisable. Major landmarks are represented by the bigger towers, which can be  intimidating and crowded. Transition space is evident when the structure opens up and reveals more natural  aspects of the city. As one exits the folie, the edge is instantly recognisable, as the towers give a distorted feeling.
